The Beginning of TheGluv's Softball Pants
It's amazing how quickly time passes. Back in 2010 when a friend suggested that I create a new Girls Softball Line for a sport in need of inspiration, I didn't know what to think. However, over the next few weeks I thought about my previous career as a leotard industry executive and how to bridge those ideas with my ability to design and create patterns for athletic garments. The center piece of the collection would be an American made, body contouring Girls Softball Pant, that would improve a teenage girls body lines and enhance her self image. It would not have any belts, zippers, or things that could cause injury when diving or sliding.
I spent many a cold night creating the patterns and the products that became TheGluv. And when I was done - many people laughed and ridiculed my idea of helping teenage softball playing girls feel more attractive and beautiful. They laughed at our cute heart shaped logo on the back pocket of a girl's behind. They scoffed that a tiny American made product could compete with the huge multinational corporations. I kept swallowing my pride, and pushed forward. And little by little, our idea about creating a more joyful environment for the softball playing teenage girl gathered momentum.
Today, TheGluv clients stretch across the nation - from California to New York, from Hawaii to Alaska. I travel 50,000 miles per year connecting with old softball friends and meeting new ones. What started as just an idea a few years ago, became a driving force towards a whole new reality for female athletes and their families.
I am truly grateful for all the wonderful things that have transpired, the people I have met, and the people that I will meet in the future. Each day TheGluv continues it's quest to help teenage girls joyfully realize all they can about themselves through the great sport of fastpitch softball.
